Laser Spider Vein Treatments FAQHow
does laser work? High
energy beam penetrates through the skin and gets absorbed in blood cells inside
the leg veins. Once absorbed, the energy turns into heat, which evaporates blood
and heats up vessel walls. Heated vessel walls collapse and glue together. Destroyed
bloodless vessels dissipate in the body within a few weeks. It
usually takes up to 2 treatments six weeks apart to seal the vessels. It may vary
slightly based on the severity of the vessels. Once the vessels are sealed, they
will dissipate in the body and never re-canalize. However, based on the individual,
new leg veins may form. What
to expect during the procedure A
topical anesthetic may be applied before the treatment. This is optional and depends
on the area, vessel severity and sensitivity of the patient
Laser
application. The
laser will be transmitted through the cold window to protect the skin and assure
further comfort. The sensation is similar to hot needle pricks. This sensation
will only continue during lasing. As soon as the laser is off, the sensation will
disappear. The laser beam will trace the leg vein driving blood away. This trace
will turn pink and will gradually disappear. After
the procedure: The
reddening will dissipate within a few days. Aloe Vera or another moisturizer
can be applied. Additionally, pressure stockings may be worn to keep the veins
sealed. Return to your normal daily routine and dont forget the Sunscreen! Laser
